Great Success for ‘Lighting the Way’ Gala

This month’s Lighting the Way Gala was a celebration of the organization’s last year of growth, a chance to thank Amaanah’s donors, and an opportunity for refugees to share their experiences.

As always,  Amaanah’s story is best told by its clients, those who have been forced to leave their homes, facing persecution and hardship, and develop a new life in the United States. Their words were moving and heartfelt, and served as a reminder of the incredible work that our staff and volunteers are doing to help those in need.

Representative Sheila Jackson-Lee was also in attendance at the event, and gave a powerful speech in support of Amaanah’s work. She emphasized the importance of helping refugees, especially in the current political climate where anti-immigrant sentiment is on the rise. Jackson-Lee praised Amaanah’s efforts to help refugees integrate into their new communities and become productive members of society, and encouraged others to support the organization’s work.

Overall, the Amaanah Gala was a huge success. It brought together community members, supporters, and refugees for a night of celebration and recognition. The speeches given by members of the refugee community were particularly moving, and served as a reminder of the incredible impact that Amaanah is having on people’s lives. Jida Nabulsi’s Congressional Award was also a testament to the hard work and dedication of the organization’s staff and volunteers.

Events like the Amaanah Gala are important for a number of reasons. They serve as an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of organizations that are doing important work in the community, and to recognize the hard work and dedication of those who are making a difference. They also provide a platform for individuals to share their stories and raise awareness about important issues, such as the plight of refugees.

The event was a celebration of hope and compassion, and a reminder that we can all make a difference in the lives of those in need. Thanks to everyone who came out to support.
