Education & Training

Ahmad Alaswad serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Amaanah Services, where he leads the organization’s vision of empowering neighbors through education, empowerment, and athletics. A seasoned leader with a diverse background in government affairs, healthcare, and nonprofit management, Ahmad brings extensive experience in shaping policy, advancing community initiatives, and building strategic partnerships that create lasting impact.

Ahmad began his career with the City of Houston, first as an intern and later as Agenda Director, before moving into leadership roles with several nonprofits. He went on to serve as Chief of Staff to a County Commissioner, Public Policy Officer for a federally qualified health center, as he successfully drafted and passed legislation. He also, was nominated by his peers to serve as South Region Chair for the Texas Association of Community Health Centers (TACHC), and later as Senior Vice President for a regional mental health organization in Texas.

Ahmad holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University and a master’s degree in Public Policy and Public Administration from Texas Southern University. He is also a graduate of Rice University’s Leadership Institute for Nonprofit Executives. Drawing on his academic foundation and his professional network across the Greater Houston area, he has built partnerships with government agencies, philanthropic foundations, and professional sports organizations, including the Houston Dynamo and Dash. Passionate about innovation and sustainability, Ahmad is committed to ensuring that Amaanah’s neighbors have the resources and opportunities to move from surviving to thriving.
