Alia Abu-Rish Abdul Rahman, a loving wife, devoted mother, doting grandmother and cherished friend who passed away peacefully in Houston on November 10, 2023, is fondly remembered for the love she cultivated throughout her remarkable life.
With the support of Alia’s family, Amaanah is launching Alia’s Fund, which will raise money to provide college scholarships for young refugees in Houston, giving them an opportunity to attend college which they would otherwise not have.
The project will initially seek to raise $10,000, with donations in Alia’s name from across our community.
Anyone can donate to Alia’s fund, simply click “Designate to where needed most” and select “Alia’s Fund” from the dropdown menu.
All money will be received and processed by Amaanah Refugee Services, a registered 501c3 charity, and all gifts are tax deductible and Zakat eligible. Updates will be provided to all donors as the initiative progresses.
The scholarship recipients will be decided by the regular Amaanah Scholarship panel, with representation from the family.
On behalf of the family, we would like to thank everyone who is considering taking part in this initiative. During a period of great loss, we take immense comfort from your generosity, and the knowledge that a young person could have a life changing experience as a result of this fund. Rima Rahman
