Amaanah Lions

sport is a powerful tool for integration and advancement. 

The Amaanah Lions is a championship winning soccer (football) team in the Houston Football Association, comprised of young refugees and recent immigrants.

Young people from any background aged 16-25 are welcome to join us for recreational soccer and competitive play all year round. 

​Soccer games are played on Sundays at Bear Creek Pioneer’s Park. In the 2024/25 soccer season, Amaanah Lions will play in the soccer Championship.

We’re here to help soccer loving Houston refugees adapt to their new environment through soccer, supporting them as they build friendships, integrate into a new city and find their place in America. 

​Everyone who loves soccer is welcome. If you were born ten thousand miles away or ten minutes, you’ll be able to train and play soccer with us. Whether you call the game ‘football’ or ‘soccer’, you’re welcome to play with us. 

We offer a fun, inclusive space for all soccer loving refugees, immigrants, and members of our wider community.
