A Great Success for World Refugee Day Houston

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who joined us in celebrating World Refugee Day Houston on Saturday. Your presence and support made this event a tremendous success.

Around 500 people attended the event from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures united by a shared belief in the power of community, and in the ongoing importance of the refugee cause.

“We’re so grateful to everyone who came out to join us,” said Jida Nabulsi, CEO of Amaanah.

“The community’s ongoing support is vital to the refugee community in Houston, and we deeply appreciate everyone who helped to create a memorable experience for everyone.”

“We want to thank our partners in hosting the event, whose commitment and expertise made the day possible. Your belief in our shared mission and all of your hard work is making a real difference in our City.”

The event was hosted by The Alliance, YMCA, Interfaith Ministries, Catholic Charities, and BEI, who came together once again to prove that partnership is a key element of serving this community.

In addition to a football tournament and a talent show, the event also hosted an international market for local refugee businesses to promote their products.

  • Every time the community comes together to bring this kind of event to Houston, it's a huge success. It's testament to the huge passion of these organizations and the amazing people who run them. Richard Spragg - Board Chair, Amaanah Services
