Care Packages fueling Scholarships of Hope

Amaanah is grateful to Amaanah volunteers and the Egyptian American Society youth group for dedicating their Saturday morning to reorganizing the Amaanah storage units. We spent the morning assembling storage shelves, cleaning out clutter, and providing necessary supplies to Accion Social, another non-profit serving Venezuelan migrants.

Beyond that, the youth group played a vital role in assembling 15 care packages for the Amaanah Scholarship winners for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Each care package included essentials such as deodorant, shampoo, hair care, body wash, laundry detergent, dish soap, snacks, medicine, and other necessities. Each recipient also received a box of school supplies to prepare for their academic journey.

Volunteering is a way that our donors, corporate partners, and community members can make a meaningful impact in our Houston community. Melissa and her son, first-time volunteers came out on Saturday with smiles from ear to ear. She was elated to be supporting our refugee community. “My husband volunteered with Amaanah in June and he loved it so much that my son and I wanted to come volunteer today,” Melissa said. It was heartwarming to see the excitement of the youth volunteers eagerly asking what task can they work on next.
