We are grateful to everyone who contributed to a successful food drive held today in partnership with the Girl Scouts at ILM Academy in West Houston.
This collaboration aims to support local families in need, with the Girl Scouts playing a key role in organizing and distributing essential food supplies. The food drive is a testament to the importance of community involvement and the power of youth leadership in creating a positive impact.
“We are so proud to partner with ILM Academy and the Girl Scouts for this important initiative,” said Mona Shater, a leader in the new Amaanah’s Ambassadors program.
“It’s inspiring to see young people stepping up and taking an active role in helping their community. Volunteering starts young, and it’s a calling I love to share with both of my daughters. This food drive will make a meaningful difference for families who need it most, and it’s a perfect example of what can be achieved when we work together.”
Throughout the day, teams of volunteers, including the Girl Scouts, gathered to pack and distribute food items to families in the local community. The event was a part of Amaanah’s ongoing efforts to support vulnerable populations, providing critical resources for those facing food insecurity.
The partnership between Amaanah and the Girl Scouts highlights the importance of fostering a sense of service and responsibility in young people, while also addressing the immediate needs of the community. The collaboration is one of many initiatives Amaanah Refugee Services has undertaken to empower youth and mobilize local efforts in support of refugee and underserved families.
