The Amaanah Big Sisters’ Circle provides holistic support for newly arrived refugee women in the United States.
Amaanah is often the first organization to take a personal interest in new arrivals. The government provides a short period of monetary support but there is an immediate need to add emotional support and reassurance.
We also support these women with rental assistance for secure places to live while rebuilding their lives.
Amaanah ensures access to educational resources and opportunities for women and their children. This includes tutoring, scholarships, and educational workshops designed to enhance skills and promote lifelong learning and personal development.
One of the hardest things for refugee women, alone with children, is to balance the need for work, income and self sufficiency, with the many demands of being a full time caregiver. Outside support can be transformational.
Amaanah offers job placement services, career counseling, and skill-building workshops. The program focuses on empowering women with the necessary tools to find meaningful employment, improve their resumes, and succeed in job interviews.
All of this support costs money and takes time and resources. We need your support to help us deliver what these women need.
This year we’re offering a variety of sponsorship packages that will help us provide these critical services.
Empower someone with our most comprehensive support package. You will receive ongoing updates and progress reports.
Components: English language classes, monthly food stipend, monthly rent assistance, metro card, laptop, home transformation.
Total Cost: $15,000
Provide essential support to ensure an individual woman’s success. You will receive ongoing updates and progress reports.
Components: English language classes, laptop, monthly food stipend, monthly rent assistance, metro card.
Total Cost: $6,500
So much of our wellbeing and overall health begins at home. Transform a woman’s living space and give her a fresh start.
Components: Home refresh. This a simpler, basic version of our popular Home Transformation initiative.
Total Cost: $5,000
Equip a woman with the language skills and technology she needs.
Components: English language classes and laptop.
Total Cost: $500
You can always make a donation of any size to the Big Sisters program by selecting the Big Sisters’ Circle option from the main donation menu.
All donations are welcome.
All packages are Zakat Eligible.
Each package is the price per individual Sister sponsorship.
